Continuous Improvement Manager & Coach

Position

Stolt Tankers is looking for you if you see the challenge in creating a cultural change that brings bottom-line results. You will become part of the Transformation department that is responsible for implementing Continuous Improvement and providing coaching for critical and challenging transformation projects in Stolt Tankers by providing advice, coaching, and project/program management. 

As a CI manager & Coach, you will be coaching and managing improvement projects (e.g., end-to-end process improvements or solving challenging problems by making use of the A3 methodology). Often you will act as a coach for projects executed by colleagues working in the business. But sometimes you will take a more leading role to drive the improvement projects yourself, especially for more challenging, cross-functional process improvements and problem-solving assignments. You will also provide coaching with respect to change management, leadership development, and team development.

Some projects and activities you will be involved with: 

  • Facilitating the annual Strategy deployment process (Hoshin Kanri). 
  • Implementing Strategic (Performance) Management for Sr. Managers. 
  • Providing CI training to Stolt Tanker employees and managers, including facilitating Change management and leadership development. 
  • Improving end-to-end processes using the Stolt Tankers improvement approach and implementing process steering in those cross-functional process teams. 
  • Implementing CI on their vessels. 
Personal Profile

Function requirements 

  • Academic education (or equivalent ability). 
  • For the senior role: certified Lean Black Belt with 5 – 7 years relevant CI experience, for the junior role: certified Lean Green Belt with approx. 1-4 years of relevant CI experience   
  • You can act as a coach or take a leading role as a project manager and intervene accordingly 
  • You are analytically strong, good with numbers, and you are a fast thinker 
  • You have a structured way of working 
  • You can connect with all levels in the organization from the shopfloor to the leadership team 
  • You can respectfully challenge teams and leaders by giving spot-on feedback 
  • You are very reflective. If something goes wrong, your first question is always ‘what could I have done better, and what do I learn from this?’

They achieved great success by implementing strategic management for the leadership team and daily management within the entire organization. They also started to improve processes and solve root causes by making use of the A3 methodology. This year, Stolt Tankers installed the CI Academy to train employees on the yellow belt and green belt levels.
