The motorcycle parts business is evolving rapidly. Not only because of geographical borders vanishing, but also due to the growth of direct sales to consumers and the blurring of traditional value chains. That is why Powersports Distribution Group was started. A powerful network of European wholesalers, which links suppliers via dealers to end-consumers and answers the need for speed in a fast-changing market.

 

B-to-B aftermarket parts distribution, B-to-C distribution and category management. PDG brings them all together in one group, which benefits each company involved. From improving operational excellence to delivering better service, our network is built to drive business. Both in mature as well as in developing markets.

 

Position

The trends and changes in the motorcycle parts market require us to adapt quickly. That is why the PDG organization is kept lean, centered around a small and focused group management, which gives the management teams at the level of each operating company room to act. This approach allows the whole group to be agile, able to act on any opportunity in the parts business.

  • The CIO Leads digitization of the Group, its existing opco’s, as well as future add-on acquisitions, wherever possible
  • Is experienced at building and leading high performing teams to deliver an IT agenda aligned with business strategy
  • These position manage all aspects of IT including strategy, architecture, operations, security and support, with a focus on the development/renewal of the opco’s , E-Commerce (Webshops), PIM systemsdigitization of processes and ERP system renewals where appropriate.
  • The CIO is Member of the PDG Management Team (CEO, CFO, Managing Director CMS, Managing Director Hocoparts, Managing Director DC AFAM, Managing Director MCS and Business Development Director).

 

Main Priorities

 

Strategic

  • Assess current IT ecosystem of the group and operational entities
  • Based on the group’s business strategy, define the target tech ecosystem to support and achieve group ambitions:
    • Core business applications:
      • PIM/DAM
      • Webshops
      • ERP and/or WMS (Dynamics 365 Business Central)
      • Interfacing/middleware with backend systems
      • Data management
    • Omnichannel
      • Customer-facing and digital apps
      • Partner facing apps
    • Infrastructure & end-user computing
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (a.o. GDPR)
  • Establish and enforce best-in-class information security policy across the group
  • Design the group’s IT function (central and local within operational entities): Organizational design, in- and outsourcing strategy
  • Define priorities and projects to realize the end state and direct and establish these projects
  • Monitor changes in the technology sector to discover ways the company can improve and develop, e.g. omnichannel, digitization
  • Adopting new technologies while ensuring they don’t introduce risks to the company they represent, such as e.g. Artificial Intelligence

 

Operations

  • Analyze business requirements for IT needs and systems
  • Plan and direct the implementation of new IT systems
  • Create IT policies and maintain standards
  • Supervise the networks and computer systems to ensure optimal performance and business continuity
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues and ensure regular maintenance (e.g. back-up recovery tests)
  • Identify and eliminate security risks
  • Provide leadership to IT specialists and other staff within the company
  • Focus on lowering total costs of ownership taken into account the group strategy
  • Create and implement IT integration plan for new acquisitions
  • Build and maintain relationships with outside vendors
  • Assess need for new equipment and software

 

 Personal profile

  • Academics with Master’s degree in engineering or information systems, MBA preferred
  • Business sense; able to translate business strategy into IT strategy and consequences for IT landscape
  • Thought leader on (change) digitization in all its aspects
  • Excellent stakeholder manager and entrepreneurial
  • Challenges the current views and opinions without losing connection with the Managing Directors of the OpCo’s and their strategic challenges
  • Proven track record in an environment (Digital transformation) of process optimization, high volume of data, complex IT landscape, e-commerce (e.g. distribution or a buy & build)
  • Strong strategic thinker, leader and ability to ‘make it happen’
  • ‘Knows what great looks like’
  • Track record in ERP implementation and continuous improvements
    • Business Central, Navision
  • Solid general understanding of technologies, current trends and drivers
    • E-commerce platforms, PIM/DAM, digitalization
