Finance Director GPS

Position

The Finance Director GPS leads the Accounting and Finance functions across the Netherlands, Poland, and France, ensuring adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and financial reporting standards. The role involves simplifying and streamlining finance operations across various systems, bringing consistency to processes that lack uniformity.

This position provides financial leadership and direction through senior managers and works collaboratively within a matrix structure. Key responsibilities include partnering with operations to achieve productivity, profitability, and working capital goals, while also managing financial reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning. The Finance Director will focus on building a high-performing team, increasing recognition and involvement, and fostering a strong culture of accountability and motivation. He or she will support and challenge business performance, offering actionable recommendations to drive growth and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead financial processes, including monthly reporting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Simplify and standardize finance systems and processes to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Drive financial goals, capital planning, margin expansion, and operational projects
  • Oversee month-end close procedures and ensure compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and internal policies
  • Deliver accurate forecasts (90%+ accuracy) and ensure robust internal controls
  • Provide capital investment analysis and support business leaders across functional areas
  • Enhance team performance by fostering engagement, recognition, and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with tax, licensing, and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the main point of contact for auditors and tax consultants
  • Support the ERP implementation and contribute to improving internal processes.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a professional accounting designation
  • Extensive commercial experience and/or MBA
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a financial leadership position 
  • Experience in an international manufacturing environment with a regional focus, preferably within a (US) listed company.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional leadership abilities to actively contribute to the business unit leadership team
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial results to management in a clear, actionable format for decision-making
  • Strong analytical capabilities and helicopter view
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative thinker with the ability to influence
  • Highly organized with excellent time and change management skills
  • Energetic professional with a passion for excellence and a talent for collaboration and teamwork
  • Proven ability to lead and engage diverse teams with cultural sensitivity
  • Customer service and commercial approach
  • Fluent in English.
